Hearing Protection

SoundGear | Arm yourself with the best

Trust your ears to SoundGear

The sound of gun blasts, power tools and industrial machines can damage hearing in a heartbeat. Yet hunters, recreational shooters and workers need to hear clearly to be safe and successful.

SoundGear electronic hearing protection devices answer both needs in a single product — digitally enhancing environmental awareness while simultaneously protecting your hearing from loud noises like gun blasts and engines.

What sound level is considered dangerous for your hearing?

Sound Levels ChartThe number of Americans with hearing loss increased from 13.2 million (6.3% of the US population) in 1971 to 20.3 million (8%) in 1991 to 48 million (15.3%) in 2011. Numbers are approximate because of methods used to study the epidemiology of auditory disorders. 1 Currently, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health considers 85 decibels to be a safe noise level. However, the EPA calculated the safe noise level for the public to prevent hearing loss to be a 70-decibel time-weighted average for a 24-hour period. As the decibels increase the amount of time of exposure without hearing protection should decrease. At 90 dB it's considered "safe" for 2 hours without hearing protection. Increase to 100 dB and it's considered "safe" for only 15 minutes. Add another 10 dB and the "safe" time is down to 2 minutes. So protecting your hearing today is important for your future.
